Alfonso DiCriscio

Alfonso “Funzzy” DiCriscio, 86, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, formerly of South Philadelphia, passed away on September 28, 2026. He was a strong, proud, quick-witted man with a great sense of humor, an endless supply of stories, and a deep and unwavering love for his family. Al shared 50 years of his life with his beloved wife, Linda, and they were married for 47 years. Together, they built a family that was at the center of everything he did. He was a devoted father to Anthony (Laura), Joseph (Donna), Lori (Milton Lynn III), and Dominique, and a proud grandfather “Poppy” to Joseph Jr., Dean, Christina, Nicholas,Ryan, Isabella, and Alexandria. Family was, without question, the most important thing in his life. His grandchildren were his world. He loved telling them stories about his childhood, sharing his wisdom, making them laugh, and teaching them the lessons he had learned throughout his life. He had a way of making family traditions feel important—not because they had to be elaborate, but because they gave everyone another reason to be together. He took great pride in keeping his family connected and was, in every sense, the rock at the center of it. Al built a long and successful career in the printing business, where he worked for more than 50 years. He began at age 18 as a courier and worked his way up through the industry, eventually becoming the owner of Consolidated Drake Press in Philadelphia. He retired in 2006, proud of what he had built through hard work and determination. But some of the best memories of Al had nothing to do with work. He loved Philly sports, going to the racetrack and betting on the horses, golfing, soaking up the sun,and taking trips to Florida. He enjoyed Wordle, Sudoku, and Cryptograms, a good James Patterson book, Sunday gravy, and a Manhattan or martini. He loved music, too, and especially Frank Sinatra. Sunday mornings often meant Sunday with Sinatra, with him singing along and dancing with Linda. It was one of those simple moments that captured him perfectly - happy, playful, and enjoying life with the person he loved. And while Sinatra may have held a special place in his heart, he also had a soft spot for Lady Gaga. Al had a gift for storytelling, and his stories, especially the ones about his younger years, will be remembered as much as the lessons woven into them. He was quick with a joke, sharp as a tack, and never one to shy away from sharing his opinion or a piece of advice. Those who knew him best will remember his humor, his personality, and the way he could turn an ordinary moment into a story worth telling. The traditions he cared about will continue to bring his family together: the Christmas Eve toast, birthday cake for everyone, Sunday meals, music, laughter, and simply making time to be together. These were more than traditions to him. They were his way of reminding everyone that family comes first.  Al was predeceased by his parents, Domenic and Concetta “Connie” DiCriscio, and his sister, Theresa Palumbo née DiCriscio. He leaves behind a family who will miss his stories, his laughter, his advice, and his unmistakable presence. Most of all, they will miss having him at the center of the moments that brought everyone together. His family will carry forward the traditions he cherished, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave so freely throughout his life. His family will greet relatives and friends on MONDAY, October 5th from 10:00am to 11:00am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 402 Kings Highway N., Cherry Hill NJ.  Funeral Mass begins at 11:00am.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by clicking on the link below or by visiting www.stjude.org
