Angelo J. DeFeo, 76, of South Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2025. A man defined by loyalty, generosity, compassion, and unwavering love for his family and friends, he will be deeply missed by so many.

Angelo was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Santa Bianca (nee Valente), who passed 21 years prior in 2004.

Angelo was a devoted husband to his second wife Vinnae (née Lerro). He was a loving father to Marcello (Carrie), Angela (Charlie) Tarloski, and Daniele (Alanna), and loving stepfather to Jillian (Andrew) Matysik and a very proud grandfather (Nonno) of Liliana, Nino, Bianca, Charles, James, Gemma and Graham. A dear brother of Sarah Sue and Francis. Angelo is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A proud Veteran of the United States Army, Angelo continued his commitment to serving others as a Deputy Sheriff for the City of Philadelphia. He went on to enjoy a long and respected career as an accountant, welcoming his clients with open arms as part of our family. His office was always located in the home and his clients would be greeted by Sandy (Santa) with espresso and food waiting at the kitchen table in their south Philly home for their appointments. After Sandy’s passing Vinnae inherently carried on this warm and welcoming tradition in the DeFeo home.

Angelo was truly one of a kind. He was generous beyond measure, always wanting to take care of everyone. He was a caring and thoughtful man who never wanted to see anyone struggle. This showed in his parenting style as he raised his three children. They often would go to dad for anything mom said no to, as he never wanted his children, grandchildren, friends or family to ever want for anything.

His children and grandchildren were sources of pride and joy in his life, and Philadelphia sports were a close second. A lifelong four-for-four fan, he rarely missed a game and cherished experiencing games with his loved ones. He was passionate about his hometown teams often taking losses as a personal offense, but always enjoyed sharing the experience regardless of the outcome.

Angelo loved music, storytelling, and poetry, which revealed his deep feeling nature. He was a gentle, soft-spoken, and sensitive man, though when given the opportunity to express himself through his words, either by singing or writing — whether shared in laughter or quiet reflection — he left lasting impressions on those that were lucky to know and love him.

Known for his generous spirit and kind heart, Angelo’s warmth, humor, and presence made people feel seen, heard, and loved – and that is all he ever wanted in life: to love and be loved. He will be remembered most for his soulful and warm hugs, his unforgettable and outlandishly exaggerated stories, his passion for traditions and poetry, and the love, generosity, and kindness he spread to those around him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Friday, September 26th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Church, 17th and Ritner Streets, Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Angelo’s memory may be made to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, continuing his legacy of generosity and support to a cause that has touched the family so closely.
