Assunta Mesoraca (née Marchio), born April 12, 1936, in Petronà, Calabria, Italy, passed away peacefully at her home in Somers Point, New Jersey, on January 1, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.

Assunta was married in Italy to her beloved husband Rocco before immigrating to the United States and settling in South Philadelphia. She devoted her life into building a home centered on love, faith, and family. A deeply devout Catholic, she was a longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in South Philadelphia. Assunta found great joy in tending her garden, cooking traditional meals for those she loved, and spending treasured time with her family, who were the center of her world.

She is survived by her five loving children: Frank Mesoraca (Ena), Theresa Pinto (Joseph), Rocco Mesoraca Jr. (Rosa), Carmela Randolph (Mark), and Dominic Mesoraca (Jennifer). She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Joseph Mesoraca and Anthony Mesoraca.

Assunta was a devoted and loving grandmother to Nicholas Mesoraca, Erica Mesoraca, Valeria (Steven), Frank Mesoraca, Pete Scerati, Ashley (Steve) Berg, Dominic (Kelly) Pinto, Bianca (Nicholas) Abate, Rocco Mesoraca III (Fiance Cailey), Marco Mesoraca, Michael (Casandra) Mongelli, Rocco (Jessie) Mongelli, Assunta DiGenni, Christina (Evan) Layton, TJ (Hailey) Mesoraca, Giahna Mesoraca (Fiance Joseph), Dominic Mesoraca, Mia Mesoraca, Olivia Mesoraca, Jordyn Mesoraca, Vincent Mesoraca, Katarina Perri and the late Anthony Mesoraca. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.

She is additionally survived by her brother, Frank Marchio, and his daughters Rosemarie, Josephine, and Carmela, along with their seven children, who will forever cherish her memory.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 1718 South 9th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pennsylvania.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Assunta’s memory to St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church.

Assunta will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless devotion to her family, and the warmth, kindness, and generosity she shared with all who were blessed to know her.
