In Loving Memory of Cindy Vuong Luc
June 25, 1957 – April 13, 2025
Born on June 25, 1957, in Móng Cái, Vietnam, Cindy Vuong Luc lived a life defined by extraordinary courage, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family.
In 1978, she married the love of her life, Paul Vuong. Together, they welcomed their first child, Mary, in April 1979. Just one month later, amid the uncertainty and danger of a war-torn Vietnam, Cindy’s parents—Danh and Vang Luc—made a bold and selfless decision that would forever alter the course of their family’s future: they helped Cindy, Paul, and baby Mary flee Vietnam in search of safety and freedom.
Their journey was perilous. After surviving a violent storm that wrecked their ship, they made an unexpected stop in China before reaching a refugee camp in Hong Kong in July 1979. There, despite the many hardships of life in exile, Cindy gave birth to their second daughter, Tammi, in February 1981.
In September of that same year, the family immigrated to the United States, settling first in San Diego to begin a new life. Following the birth of their son, Quay, in 1983, the family relocated to Los Angeles, where they raised their growing family with the additions of daughters Kelly and Nancy.
After living ten years in California, Cindy moved with her family to the Philadelphia area in 1991 where she spent the majority of her life. She ran a family restaurant and later became a dedicated nail technician, a profession she found joy and pride in. In her later years, she relocated to Worcester, Massachusetts, where she continued working in the restaurant business until her well-earned retirement.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Paul Vuong, and their cherished children: Mary (Arthur) Hapner, Tammi (Will) Chu, Quay (Catherine) Vuong, Kelly (Johnny) Huynh, and Nancy (Daming) Chung. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her grandchildren: Arthur & Audrey Hapner; Lucy & Liam Chu; Ellie & Abe Vuong; Cameron, Peter, & Henry Huynh; and Emerson & Maddison Chung.
Her strength, selflessness, and love will live on in all who knew her.
