Danilo G. Perlez (“Danny,” “Danny Boy”) passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 77.

Born on November 15, 1947, in San Pablo, Laguna, Philippines, he earned a college degree in finance before moving to the United States in 1977. He enjoyed music and traveling and had a lifelong passion for learning and laughter. One of his favorite television shows was Jeopardy! , and he often called out the questions before the contestants. Although he didn’t like flying and never drove a car, he still managed to visit much of the United States. One of his most memorable experiences was riding a train through the Blue Ridge Mountains, where he was captivated by their beauty.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anita Fernando ; his daughter, Catherine (Melvin) ; his son, Abraham ; and his grandson, Avery . He is also survived by his sisters: Alicia Gaerlan (Ed ua rdo) , Athena Manalac ( Cesar ) , and Amelia Woodard (Darryl) ; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Danilo was preceded in death by his father, Guillermo , his mother, Amelita , and his older brother, Jaime .

Danilo was known for his generosity. Though he was a man of limited means, he always prepared an envelope for everyone on Christmas Eve. Though he was small in stature, his heart was boundless, and we will forever cherish the memory of his big, joyful laugh.

Danilo died as he lived—simply, privately, and on his own terms. Ever mindful not to burden others, and true to his selfless nature, he specifically requested no viewing or formal memorial service. If you loved him, he knew it; and if he loved you, it was always clear.
