David J. Witham, off to rest from tests, surgeries, pain, and suffering at 61 years of age too soon for his departure, on Wednesday, March 17th.

Born and raised in Darby, Pennsylvania, graduated from Darby-Colwyn, and Delaware Community College with certification as Electrician. He attended advanced studies with Hill Rom, Trane Industries, Lewellyn Technology, and Hazmat.

David was a hardworking man throughout his life to provide for his family. He worked at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital for twenty-eight years starting in Environmental Services, Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, and Safety and Security Director.
David, was a volunteer fireman for Darby Borough in Pennsylvania.
He too worked at Hamilton Grove Healthcare and Rehabilitation, in New Jersey, until his diagnose of Esophageal Cancer received Chemotherapy and radiation treatment in November and completed by December 31, 2020, by the ring of the bell for closure of the year.

David’s most rewarding job and greatest accomplishment was being a daddy and pop-pop to his adoring children and grandchildren. Nothing made him prouder than his children and grandchildren, constantly sharing stories about them to everyone.
He was always the only parent in the pool having fun with his children, and many other little ones, as the children grew, as a parent he taught driving lessons and many of life’s treasures to his children and God daughter. His children’s friends too loved David as much as he loved being with everyone.

David, remodeled his homes and everyone else’s. Anything undone he would redo as a perfectionist from installation of rooftops, chimneys, kitchens, bathrooms, to beneath the foundation of the house(s). No mission was too large for David. He was always there for anyone of us at any hour of the day or night, no matter what the circumstances were.

He loved fishing, camping, cooking particularly grilling, seafood feasts, traveling by car, air or boat, being at the beach, Ocean City, and Wildwood, New Jersey, playing the ponies at Delaware Park, in Delaware, watching the EAGLES with his family and friends and most of all riding his Harley. He too enjoyed spirits at home, with sunsets by the firepit and the warmth of the fire indoors on winter nights with his loved ones. David never lost his sense of personality and fun even during the first week of recovery ICU after his critical surgery, always sincerely thinking of others, especially the medical team and his family. David was a mentor, dear to everyone who have had the opportunity of knowing him and shared his deepest compassion to all. During recovery at home, he loved doing jigsaw puzzles, most of all spending quality time with his loved ones and his well-trained puppy by his side.

David was one of a kind with his outgoing personality, living and loving life to his fullest! David will be lovingly remembered for the twinkle in his blue eyes, smile, kindness, quick-wit and a true heart of gold and his laughter. David was always the life of the party, whatever the occasion, he kept people laughing. He was fond of animals always had a dog

Throughout his life, beloved family and friends will share the loss and treasure the memories that were made together and are all grateful and thankful to have had the precious time of life with David.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving mother Harriet J. (Op’Dyke) Witham. Dearest brother of Loretta M. (Witham) Turner (Jim Turner). Beloved partner of Judy Szymczak. Also, survived by former wife, Edna Carroll. He will be greatly missed by his devoted and loving children David, Jr., (Courtney Doyle), Laura (Danny Inzerma), JT (Karen Ehrke) and Wade. His beautiful and cherished grandchildren, Gianna May, Luke Jacob, Adaleana, Schiler, Tristen, Marlena, Aiden, John Thomas, Jr., Cole Patrick, and Charlotte Rose. Also, loving God daughter Nicole, nieces and nephews. Host of friends, whom he loved dearly. He too will be missed recently as the Master of their new puppy.

He was predeceased by his dad, Winfred A. Witham, Jr. on March 24, 2010.
