Diem Chau

Chau Binh Diem, 83, of Philadelphia Pa, died Saturday Oct. 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 25, 1940 in South Vietnam. He and his family immigrated to America via Hong Kong in 1980 with the help of the Hebrew immigrant Aid Society. (HIAS). He and his wife, Phuong Ly, were married 60 years raising their five children in a home in South Philly.

Mr. Chau worked as a skilled machinist crafting small tools. He was a practical man, a problem solver who could fix anything. He would help everyone that needed help. After retirement he cherished being around his family glowing the most when everyone was around the table eating a smorgasbord of food prepared by his children who all have the talent of a seasoned chef. He was preceded in death by his father, Grandpa Chau, when Diem was only 10 years old learning the hard way to be a young man. His mother Ly Xuan Chi passed in 2008. He is survived by his wife Ly Khanh Phuong, his sister Chau Tu Tran and her daughter Huynh My, his five children and their spouses, Linh and husband Tuyen, Nga (Brenda)and husband Ricky, Hung (Henry)and his wife Linh, Cuong (Scott) and his wife Huong, Van and husband John; eleven grandchildren, Tina, Kevin, Michelle, Nicholas, Phillip, Benjamin, Alexis, Kaylee, Anna, Micheal and Jonathan.

Family members will conduct a private Buddhist tradition service beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friends and guest will be received from 6:00 - 7:30 PM Thursday Nov 2nd at Baldi Funeral Home, 1331 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147. (Ample Off Street Parking) Parlor 6, Second Floor.

A funeral service will be held Friday Nov 3rd from 9:00-10:30 AM at Baldi Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fernwood Cemetery 6501 E. Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA 19050
