Dominic Nave, aged 96, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Joan (nee Lacca) and the cherished father of Donna (Ron) Rabena, Joanie (Bob) DelCampo, and the late Robert Nave. Dominic was the beloved grandfather of Amanda (Justin) McNally, Ronnie Rabena Jr., Nicolette DelCampo, and Bobby DelCampo, as well as the proud great-grandfather of Savannah, Vienna, Charlotte, and Dakota Jo. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Dominic and his wife Joan shared a remarkable 70 years together, a testament to enduring love. He was an original homeowner in The Packer Park Homes and neighborhood in South Philadelphia, where he raised his family and lived his entire life. A lifelong parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church since its construction in 1964, Dominic's faith was a central part of his life.
Throughout his career, Dominic took pride in his trade as a printer at Perlman Press on 5th and Poplar Streets, dedicating over 40 years to the industry. He possessed a special talent for folding the Origami Crane out of paper, bringing joy and smiles to many, especially young children, with its symbolism of carrying souls up to heaven.
A proud Veteran of the armed forces, Dominic bravely served his country during The Korean War. In his leisure time, he enjoyed dancing, gardening, and, most of all, being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dominic's viewing 9:30-11:30 Wednesday at St Richard Church on 18th and Pollock St. The Funeral Mass will commence at 11:30, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his memory to The Wounded Warriors Project at 370 7th Ave, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001, or online at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ .
Dominic Nave will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering love, steadfast dedication, and warm spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.
