Edward Mockewich, age 87, passed away on March 19, 2026.
He was the devoted husband of the late Annamarie (née Scarduzio). Loving father of Maria Josephine (Frank) DiCicco and Rocco John (Annamarie) Mockewich. Dear grandfather of Bobby (Samantha), Stephanie (Collin), Andrew, Rocco Jr., Sienna, and Sofia, and proud great-grandfather of Bella, Dominic, and Colton. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Edward proudly served his country as a United States Marine, stationed at Camp Lejeune, and served aboard the USS Monrovia, USS Boxer, and USS Mandan.
He was a master diesel mechanic, working for the Philadelphia Bulletin and later the Philadelphia Inquirer, and was an active organizer for Local Union 628.
Edward enjoyed fishing along the Jersey Shore and had a passion for boating, especially working on diesel boat engines. Raised in “the Neck” section of South Philadelphia, he was truly old school at heart—a man who would help anyone in need without hesitation. Above all, he cherished his family and friends, who meant everything to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM.Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Edward’s memory to St. Monica School, 2422 South 17th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145.
