Elizabeth Henry Profile Photo
Elizabeth Carlin Henry, age 93, died of natural causes peacefully in her home on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, PA.

Born in Atlantic City, NJ and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alexis M. Carlin and Anna Elizabeth (Davis) Carlin. She attended Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls and the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Known to her family as “Sis,” she was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers Alexis “Bud” Carlin (Kate) and Thomas Carlin, and her sister Anne Van Sciver (Dick). She is survived by her brothers Joseph Carlin (Ellie) and Leo Carlin (Kay).

Married in 1949 to Joseph “Bud” Henry of Trenton, NJ (deceased), she is survived by her five loving children Richard Henry of Wayne, PA; Treacy Henry of Philadelphia, PA; Kevin Henry of Philadelphia, PA; Alexis Henry (Mark Radosta) of Grafton, MA; and Meredith Henry-Geringer (Dan Geringer) of Berwyn, PA.

She will be remembered as “Lizzie” by her eight beloved grandchildren Sheane Diehl (Mike) of Limerick PA, Carlin Vaias of Schwenksville, PA; Dare Henry-Moss (Chad Jeffries) of Philadelphia, PA; Patrick Higgins of Chiang Mai, Thailand; Dylan Geringer (George Murphy) of Philadelphia, PA; Drew Geringer of Boulder, CO; Matthew Radosta of Grafton, MA; and Oliver Henry of Yonkers, NY; her great-grand-daughter Rebecca Kofer of Schwenksville, PA; seven great-grandsons Samuel, Harry and Benjamin Kleit of Limerick, PA; Dimitris “DJ” Vaias of Kensington, MD; and Simon and Lex Jeffries of Philadelphia, PA; and great-great grandson Elliott Shafer of Schwenksville, PA. She will miss meeting great-granddaughter Ramona Geringer-Murphy, due in June. https://actorsfund.org/help-our-entertainment-communiity-covid-19-emergency-relief.

A regular Auntie Mame, she was “Aunt Sis” or “Aunt Liz” to more than 40 nieces and nephews and their countless offspring whom she regaled with stories (some embellished) of her life on the stage. Referring to herself as “a tall person with short legs,” Liz commanded attention. She retired from her position as a corporate receptionist at the age of 89 from the Berwind Corporation of Philadelphia, PA. She was fierce, glamorous, inspiring, entertaining and one of a kind. She will be missed.

She will join her family and “the gang on Pike Street” and be buried in a private ceremony at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Actor’s Fund COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund
