Francis A. “Frank” Negro passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 67.

Beloved son of the late Francis A. Negro Sr. and Victoria (nee Costa) Negro. Loving brother of Mark (Gina) Negro, Christina Fraker, and Matthew (Victoria) Negro. Dear uncle of Jennifer Fraker, Robert Fraker, Mark Negro Jr., Madison Negro, DanaRose Negro, and Matthew Negro Jr. Frank is also survived by many loving cousins and dear friends.

A lifelong South Philadelphian and local businessman, Frank owned and operated A&F Wallpaper and A&F Check Cashing at 10th Street and Moyamensing Avenue for many years. Through his businesses and his many years in the neighborhood, Frank became a familiar face to countless members of the South Philadelphia community.

Frank’s life also told an inspiring story of perseverance. After years of health challenges related to juvenile diabetes and kidney disease, he received a life-changing kidney and pancreas transplant in September 2002. Following his transplant, Frank became an advocate for organ donation and proudly represented Team Philadelphia in the U.S. Transplant Games. He competed in bowling, table tennis, basketball, and track events, helping Team Philadelphia earn a bronze medal in the 4x100-meter relay at his first Transplant Games.

For Frank, however, the experience meant far more than winning medals. Competing alongside other transplant recipients and helping raise awareness about the gift of organ donation held a special place in his heart. As Frank once said of the experience, “The medal is inside of us.”

Frank will be remembered for his strength, determination, and ability to persevere through life’s challenges, as well as the friendships and connections he made throughout his life. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 9th and Watkins Streets, Philadelphia.

His Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 AM.
