Harry Cole Frantz

Harry Cole Frantz, age 82, passed away on July 21, 2026. He was the loving companion of AnnaMarie Fontanazza for 27 wonderful years. Beloved father of Audrey Frantz, Diane Frantz-Miller (Craig), Harry Frantz Jr. (Debra), and the late Thomas Frantz. He also shared his children with their mother, Eva Marie Frantz, who was his wife of 30 years. Harry was the cherished grandfather of Matthew, Christopher, Luke, Sophia, Olivia, and Claudia. Loving brother of Barbara (John) Katz and the late George and Stephanie. He was also a devoted uncle to Cynthia Frantz, Giselle Piantedosi, Steven Frantz, Marion Frantz, and the late Greg, and is survived by many extended family members and dear friends.

Harry served his country from April 1962 to June 1965 in the United States Navy at NAS (Naval Air Station) Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he was a first-class enlisted technician, who worked on jet engines. Following his time in the service, Harry worked for more than 18 years as a repairman and then a supervisor with General Electric in Northeast Philadelphia. He later shared his knowledge and craftsmanship as a shop teacher in the Philadelphia School District, where he enjoyed mentoring young people.Harry was a compassionate man with a curious mind and a creative spirit. An avid reader who loved history, newspapers, books and poetry, he was a deep thinker and found joy in writing short stories and poetry. He looked forward each year to his fishing trips to Maine, where he found deep fellowship with friends, peace and relaxation in the outdoors.He also enjoyed baking and could often be found preparing cakes, pies, and cookies to share with family and friends. Harry appreciated life's simple pleasures and especially treasured time spent with those he loved, whether gathered around the table sharing stories, enjoying a favorite drink, or simply spending time together.Harry will be remembered for his sense of humor, thoughtful conversations, quick wit, and the genuine kindness he extended to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday 9-10AM at the Chapel of Four Chaplains 1201 Constitution Ave. Phila., Pa 19112 (Navy Yard). The service will begin at 10:00 AM.Entombment will be held privately at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Harry's memory to the Camp Hill School in Glenmoore, Pa. at camphillschool.org or the Melmark School in Berwyn, Pa. at melmark.org
