Joan J. Borman Sr.

Joan J. Borman September 11, 1944 – January 12, 2026

Joan J. Borman, age 81, passed away on January 12, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (née Opre) Riley. Joan shared an especially deep and loving bond with her father, Joseph, whose guidance, strength, and love remained with her throughout her life.

Joan was a devoted mother to her eight children: Jacqueline (Tom Iona Sr.), Marilyn, Johanna, Joan Jr. (Arthur Clearfield), MaryAnne, Catherine (Joseph Fitzpatrick), Susan, and Michael. Her life was centered around her family, and she took great pride in being a loving and supportive presence to her children and all those she held dear.

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Joan held a lifelong connection to the friends and neighbors of the 300 block of Cantrell Street, who were not just neighbors but an extended family. The memories, friendships, and community she shared there were a treasured part of her life.

She was a cherished grandmother to Lauren, Karen, Tom Jr., Frankie, Christie, Tara, Anthony, Ashley, Joseph Jr., Alexandria, and Jennifer, and a proud great-grandmother to many, whose lives were enriched by her love, strength, humility, and kindness. She is also survived by many other loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.

Joan will be remembered for her resilience, her devotion to family, and the deep love she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured and the many hearts she touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, January 19th, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at Baldi Funeral Home, 1331 S. Broad Street (ample off-street parking available). Memorial tributes and a prayer service will begin at 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at St. Basil’s Romanian Byzantine Cemetery, Clover Avenue, Hamilton Township, NJ 08650.
