John C Castiello

John C. Castiello, a beloved member of his community, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on July 16, 1949, in South Philadelphia, where he spent his formative years infused with the values instilled by his late parents, Anthony and Santina (nee Saraullo).

John’s life was marked by deep familial bonds, and he is mourned by his loving cousins, including Anthony (Joan) Germanotta, Elizabeth “Liz” (Rocco) Saraullo – Morrotto, John L. (Cathy) Castiello, John (Maryann) DeFeo, William “Billy” (Maria) DeFeo,   Elizabeth (deceased) and Kathy DeFeo and cousin Lenny (Joanne) Castiello. He is also remembered fondly by his loyal friends and caretakers, Karen and Richard Paul, as well as cousin Anthony Germanotta Jr. John cherished the company of numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly. His faithful canine companion, Oreo, also stands as a testament to John’s gentle and caring nature.

A devout practicing Catholic, John found solace and purpose within the faith of St. Richard Parish. He cherished attending Mass, particularly those conducted in Latin, which fostered a sense of connection to his heritage and spirituality.

Professionally, John dedicated over three decades of his life as an administrator at South Philadelphia High School. His commitment to education allowed him to form meaningful connections with both staff and students, relationships that have persevered through time and continue to resonate with those whose lives he touched.

John had a zest for life that included a love for travel, especially trips to Portugal and Italy, where he enthusiastically explored the roots of his heritage. His passion for the arts, particularly theater, drew him frequently to New York City, where he relished in numerous theatrical events, reflecting his appreciation for creativity and performance.

Family and friends are invited to honor John’s memory at a viewing on Monday from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Richard Church, located at 18th and Pollock Streets. A funeral mass will immediately follow at 10:30 AM, with interment taking place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.

John C. Castiello leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a passion for life that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed dearly, but his spirit will carry on in the many lives he affected.
