Kiet Giang was born in Saigon, Vietnam on August 20, 1938. During his youth, he was a motivated student, who immersed himself into his schoolwork and possessed a thirst for knowledge. At the age of 25, he married De Dai Bach and they raised five girls and two boys, one son who passed away at the age of 4 in a house fire. During their time in Saigon, they ran a successful fan assembly business and he also fought in the war. In 1978, in pursuit of a better life for his family, he and his family escaped Vietnam by boat and landed in Taiwan. They eventually were sponsored to the United States, where they started their new life in Philadelphia. As an entrepreneur, he and his wife rehabbed 15 restaurants and laundromats throughout the city. Kiet loved learning and teaching himself how to repair electronics, washers, dryers and homes. In his downtime, he enjoyed watching soccer, football and tennis. He was an avid Eagles fan, known for always sporting an Eagles cap. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, 6 children, and 14 grandchildren and now reunited with his predeceased son.
