Lam Chiu Phu, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Lam was born on June 13, 1933 in Quang Ninh, Vietnam. He was the husband of Luong Lu for 61 years.

As a young adult, Lam was a commercial sailor in Vietnam for over 20 years. During the China and Vietnam conflicts in 1978, he was hired as captain and sailed 150 people, including his whole family, safely out of Vietnam.

Lam and his family came to the USA in 1980, sponsored by the First Church of Christ of Hartford, CT. Lam worked at a few manufacturing companies in the Greater Hartford area. He liked watching Chinese drama series and enjoyed gathering over good food and drinks. Above all, he loved playing card games with friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Luong Lu, Lam is survived by his older sister, Lien, of Sacramento, CA and his younger sister, Leng, of China, his son and daughter-in-law Bao and May, his son James, his son and daughter-in-law Don and Le, his daughter and son-in-law Khuyen and Hung, his son and daughter-in-law Tay and Mai, his son and daughter-in-law Ken and Alyssa, his daughter Mui and his grandchildren Jennifer, Justin, Joan, John, Megan, Helen, Jeffrey, Serena, Darline, Emilie, Edward, Kaylee, Abigail, and Benjamin. He was predeceased by his son, Phong. Lam was a loving husband, father, grandfather to many and a friend to all.

Lam will be laid to rest in peace on Thursday, October 15 at 12pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Due to COVID restrictions, a private prayer ceremony will be held to immediate family only.
