Ly Siv Luu, beloved mother and grandmother, left this world on June 16, 2021 peacefully, comforted by her children and grandchild after a battle with liver cancer.
Ly was born in Moung Reussei, in the Battambang province of Cambodia. She survived the Cambodian genocide of the 1970s and immigrated to the US in 1988. She built a life in America and raised three children who now carry her legacy. Ly was a compassionate and selfless person who showed nothing but love to everyone she met. She had a passion for travel and cooking and was fiercely independent. She loved road trips, visiting friends and family in foreign places, and exploring new bus and train routes within Philadelphia. She also had a love for learning, education, languages, and gardening.
Ly will be remembered for her generosity, kind spirit, quiet strength, capacity to love endlessly. She is survived by her children and children-in-law - Tola & Lena, Vicki & Craig, and Tony & Ashley, as well as her grandson Daniel.
In lieu of flowers, here are the 3 options for how you can help -
- Plant a tree anywhere in her honor (she especially loved fruit trees, or flowering trees)
- Make any donation to any charity of your choice (she was always a compassionate, giving person)
- Make a donation to this GoFundMe account that we've set up for education in Cambodia. Details in this link - https://gofund.me/8ced4876
