Manh Thi Phan was born on December 31, 1928 in Cu Chi - Saigon, Vietnam. She died on April 13, 2019 by pneumonia after 2 weeks in Virtua Voorhees Hospital and 1 week in Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice in Voorhees, NJ - U.S.
After the North Vietnamese Government took over the South on April 30, 1975, the U.S Government signed the agreement with the Vietnamese Government allowing all mixed American and Vietnamese children to go to America with their families. Manh Thi Phan went to America in 1989 with her husband Tai Truong, her daughter Trung Truong, and her son Thanh Truong, a mixed American and Vietnamese child, who she adopted when he was still an infant at a foster home before 1975.
Her husband Tai Truong died in 1995 by pneumonia and her daughter Trung Truong died in 2015 by heart attack.
