It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret “Cookie” Sabelli (née Esposito) on February 2, 2026, at the age of 92. The beloved wife of the late Frank J. Sabelli, Cookie was a lifelong and devoted member of the Italian-American community of South Philadelphia. She was the heart of her family, known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Cookie is survived by her three sons, Guy (Felicia), John (Denise), and Paul (Donna), and her five cherished grandchildren: Angel Paul, Christian, Gaetano, Giovanni, and Francesca. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in each of them.
Cookie had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Her jovial spirit, quick smile, and kind heart brightened every room she entered. She leaves behind countless memories, shared laughter, and a legacy of love that will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Monica Church, 17th and Ritner Streets. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
