Maria Carmelita Yulo, born on April 15, 1936 (age 87) in Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines has joined Our Creator on February 13, 2024. Beloved wife of pre-deceased Alfonso Sr. and loving mother of John, Christine, Annabelle, and pre-deceased Alfonso Jr. Maria is also survived by her grandchildren — Mark, Catherine, Frances, Dwayne, Farrah, Calvin, Fritz, Camille, Felise, and Dustin; and her great grandchildren — Alex, Caitlin, Dylan, Luca, Leo, Jake, and Alfie.
Maria or “Wawa” as she was fondly called, graduated with a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy. She worked as a pharmacist at her family’s pharmacy in Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines. She later changed career path, and worked at the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Manila, Philippines for 20+ years, where she rose up through the ranks and became the Director. She was able to retire early and devote the rest of her life to her family.
She took pride in being the maternal head of the family and showed her love through acts of service such as cooking hearty meals, taking care of all the kids, and being the steadfast glue that held us all together. She made sure to let everyone know that she was the best at board games, particularly Scrabble and Boggle, and finished many Fill It In books. She was a devoted Catholic who attended mass every Sunday and during the week and believed in the power of prayer. Wawa was full of wit, wisdom, and love for others. We remember her for all of the joy she has given us and the legacy that she leaves behind within her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life viewing on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 2pm-6pm, and a prayer service at 4pm.
