With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Hong Ngoc Tran, who passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 86.

Hong was born on November 15, 1940, in Rach Gia, Vietnam. In May 1981, she left Vietnam by boat with her children to give them the chance for a better life. She settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she began a new chapter in her life.

Family meant everything to Hong. She was incredibly selfless, spending her life putting her children and loved ones first. She could be stubborn and sometimes tested our patience, but even those moments became part of what we loved about her. Beneath it all was a woman with the biggest heart who cared deeply, loved her family endlessly, and always wanted the very best for us.

She loved traveling, trying new foods, and most of all, spending time with the people she loved. Her happiest moments were simply being surrounded by family, sharing meals, celebrating together, and enjoying each other’s company.

Hong is survived by her five children: Tang Ngoc Tuyet and her husband, Do Tuy Hoa; Tang My Dung and her husband, Tong Phi Dang; Tang Phu Xuan and his wife, To Thi Oanh; Tang Myhanh and her husband, Dang Tuan Huy; and Tang My Phuong and her husband, Gary Sirois.

She was a loving grandmother to Tammy and her husband, Doug; Victoria and her fiancé, Johnny; Leroy and his wife, Danielle; Douglas; Dustin; Katherine; William; Nicholas; Katalin; and Nathan; and a proud great-grandmother to Evelyn, Adam, and Landen.

She is also survived by her three younger brothers, Chon Tran, Hoa Tran, and Binh Tran, and their wives; her adopted daughter, Luu Thi Kim Phuong; her adopted granddaughter, Hue, and Hue’s children, Diamond and Mila; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other loved ones in both America and Vietnam.

Hong was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her two sisters.

Her family will always remember the sacrifices she made, the strength it took to start over in a new country, and the love she gave so freely. The life she built lives on through her family, whom she loved more than anything.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
