Nicholas A. Merlino passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 73.
He was the devoted husband of Vicky and the loving father of Nicholas Jr. (Sharri), Kelly Merlino-Harrington (Louis), Francine Bergman, and Michael (Donna) Rosado. Cherished grandfather of Krista, Katlyn, Madison, Joshua, Matthew, Selina, Luigi and Christian.
In his younger years, Nicholas proudly owned and operated Merlino Electric, based in Southwest Philadelphia. He later served for many years as a correctional officer at Graterford Prison before beginning a distinguished career as a Greyhound bus driver. During his more than 20 years with Greyhound, he traveled extensively throughout the eastern United States, including New York, Boston, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Following his retirement from Greyhound, Nicholas continued his career with First Transit Airport Shuttle, serving travelers at Philadelphia International Airport.
Nicholas had a lifelong passion for collecting handguns and rifles. He traveled throughout the country attending gun conventions and was a proud member and recruiter for the National Rifle Association (NRA). He was also a dedicated master mason for more than 37 years and was a member of Richard Vaux Brotherhood Lodge No. 126, meeting at the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia.
Above all, Nicholas will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his many interests, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
