Peter Calvo

Peter Calvo, age 86, a longtime resident of South Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at his residence at Voorhees Senior Living on November 21, 2025.

Born in 1939 to the late Rosalia and Salvatore Calvo, Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Darlene. He was the devoted father of Roseanna Flanagan (Dan), Peter Calvo (Elizabeth), and Darlene Walsh (John). Loving grandfather of Tiffany (Dan) DiPietro-Shull, his cherished travel partner, Anthony Autouri, Joseph (Brittany) DiPietro, Alexandra (Nick) DiMattia, and Salvatore Calvo. Proud great-grandfather of Payton, Colton, and Morgan.

He is also survived by his sisters Tina (Dominic) Spano and Josephine (Philip) Bucolo, and was predeceased by his siblings Giovanna (Nino) Garguilo and Philip (Linda) Calvo. Peter will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

An avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, Peter was also a proud food enthusiast and had a lifelong passion for the 9th Street Italian Market, where he often spent time enjoying the culture, flavors, and community. He maintained a deep affection for his family and roots in Belmonte Mezzagno, Sicily, always honoring his Italian heritage.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at St. Richard Church, 3010 South 18th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Entombment will take place at New Saint Mary’s Cemetery, 515 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr, NJ 08031.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Peter’s memory to St. Richard Parish.
