In Loving Memory of
Robert Ky Vuy Chung
深切怀念钟伟基弟兄生平简略
Robert Ky Vuy Chung passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. After immigrating to US from Vietnam with his family in 1986, he spent 18 years serving at the Philadelphia Police Department. He also worked for many years as a court and hospital interpreter, continuing in that role long after retiring from the police department.
Fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese, Robert used his language skills to bridge gaps and help people navigate difficult circumstances. He always had a thirst for knowledge and was committed to continually honing his English. Whether assisting others through his work or supporting family and friends, he gave generously without seeking recognition or reciprocation. Compassion and thoughtfulness guided the way he lived.
Faith was an important part of Robert’s life. He was led to Jesus Christ as his Savior and LORD by Rev. Phil Dich when he was in Vietnam, and he joined Abundant Life Chinese Mennonite Church where Rev. Dich started serving as a pastor in South Philadelphia. He attended Sunday services each week and found a deep sense of community in his congregation. Robert was a devoted Christian who dedicated himself to serving the Lord at the church, and as a key finance coworker from 2010 until the pandemic. After learning that he had cancer, he continued serving God without slowing down. He turned to God for guidance, and his faith led him to pursue alternative treatment. He followed a strict daily diet and routine so that he could continue serving the Lord each week. He was usually quiet, yet always willing to help those in need and gave his personal time and effort to assist them.
Outside of work and church, he found joy in listening to Vietnamese and old Chinese music, watching Paris by Night and Van Son comedy skits, reading and writing, dining out, playing mahjong and ping pong, and going to the movies with his children. He especially treasured parties hosted by his daughter, Queenie, where he enjoyed delicious food prepared by family and friends and delighted in watching everyone laugh, sing, and feast together. Although quiet, serious, and introverted in public, Robert was a goofy and fun-loving father at home who loved joking with his children and making them laugh. He cherished time with his son, Tim, and daughters, Connie, Jade, and Queenie, taking an interest in the things they loved and finding joy in their happiness as though it were his own.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, humility, and enduring love. He showed that care is often expressed through everyday kindness, shared laughter, and a steadfast presence. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his playful spirit, compassionate heart, and devotion to his family will live on in the memories they hold dear. He will be forever loved, profoundly missed, and lovingly remembered.
