Salvador Batalla Cerezo
63 years of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories
God called Salvador home on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Known affectionately by many names—Kuya Ador, Sal, Dagul, Ninong—he brought light and laughter to everyone around him. His legacy is one of generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
Born in the Philippines, Sal earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Technical Institute of the Philippines, where he was an active member of the Samahang Ilocano (SI) fraternity. He immigrated to the United States in 1995, beginning in California, where he juggled multiple jobs to provide a better life for his family. His journey eventually led him to Philadelphia, where he lived with his beloved aunt and uncle, Adelia and Elias Layos, who treated him like a son.
It was during this time in Philadelphia that Salvador met his wife, Amor Maranan Cerezo, at work. Their bond grew alongside countless cherished friendships that he cultivated over the years. He deeply touched the lives of those around him with his warmth and joy.
Salvador is survived by his loving wife Amor, and their daughter, Alyssa Maranan Cerezo, who was the light of his life. He adored Alyssa so deeply that he joked about naming her “Adora”—a tribute to his nickname, "Ador." To her, he was more than just a father; he was her role model, her look-alike ("kamukha"), and the best dad she could have ever asked for.
He is also survived by his siblings: Violeta Cerezo Cervantes, Jocelyn Cerezo Ocampo, Celedonia Cerezo Castigon, and Alfonso Cerezo. He was preceded in death by his loving sister, Gloria Cerezo Villar, and his parents, Rosario Batalla Cerezo and Juan Castro Cerezo.
To his many nieces and nephews in the Philippines, he was the “cool” uncle—the dependable, caring father figure who, even from afar, offered advice and unwavering support. Salvador called his siblings in the Philippines almost every day, serving as their anchor and constant companion, despite the distance.
Sal bravely battled diabetes since 1999 and end-stage renal disease for 14 years. Through all of life’s challenges, he remained kind, selfless, and full of humor. Even when he had little, he gave all he could. His generosity knew no bounds.
To his family, he was the heart of their home. His laughter filled every room. His smile—warm, bright, and sincere—was like sunshine. He was the source of joy, strength, and comfort. His heart was always in the right place, and his spirit lives on in those who were blessed to know him.
Salvador will be remembered always for his kindness, strength, and laughter. His memory will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing SATURDAY August 2nd 5 - 8PM Baldi Funeral Home 1327-31 S Broad St. Interment will be held in the Philippines.
