Susan L. Principe Balco

Susan L. Principe Balco, 93, passed away on November 24, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was daughter of John and Lena Marie Principe (nee DiPietrantonio) and sister to John R. (“Champy”) and Susan Principe. Susan was a life-long residence of South Philadelphia and a member of St. Rita of Cascia parish. She attended South Philadelphia High School graduating in 1950. Susan was a devoted wife and Mother. She was married in 1953 to the late Nicholas Balco and they had three beautiful daughters: Valerie, Rosemarie and Susan. In the early 1990s, Susan started a career in sales at Isgro’s Bakery where she worked until retirement at age 85. Susan was a kind, generous and loving person and was loved by all. Susan enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, going to the beach and traveling. She lived a happy, full life and will always be remembered as Mom, Nan and Nunu. Susan is survived by her daughters Valerie Pozza and husband Anthony; Rosemarie Burnett and husband Donald and Susan Zanier and late husband John ”Tot” as well as her 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A mass of Christian Burial will be offered on December 3, 2025 at 10:00AM at the National Shrine of St. Rita of Cascia, 1166 South Broad St., Philadelphia, PA. Visitation precedes the mass starting at 9:00 AM. Entombment will Private
