Theodore S. Picano, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
He was the beloved son of the late Alfreda (née Nowakowski) and Mario Picano; loving brother of the late Gaetano (Sheila), Barbara, and Robert Picano; and is survived by his sisters, Antoinette Picano and Stephanie (Fred) Nagle. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews: Anthony (Beth), Christopher, Alfreda, Bria (Dennis), Mario, and many cherished cousins.
Ted was born and raised in South Philadelphia and spent most of his life on the 1000 block of South Randolph Street. He was a longtime member of St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi Parish, where many of his childhood memories and lifelong friendships were made. In 2018, due to health concerns, he moved in with his sister Stephanie and her husband Fred, where he was lovingly cared for.
Ted proudly served his country as a Veteran of the Vietnam War in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked for the City of Philadelphia in both the Register of Wills Office and later the City Voter Registration Office, from which he retired.
He loved his family deeply and found great joy in cooking, trips to the casino, and especially preparing Sunday dinner for those he loved most. Ted’s warmth, loyalty, and love for family will be remembered always. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life on Saturday, June 6th, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon at Baldi Funeral Home, 1331 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA (Ample Off-Street Parking).
Interment will be private.
