Thomas F. Donatucci Jr., best remembered as owner of Donatucci Kitchens & Appliances on Washington Avenue, died Saturday at his suburban Philadelphia home from complications of a stroke.

From his time as a young boy helping in his father's corner market, or through his teen years working at the counter of his uncles' plumbing supply business, Mr. Donatucci was always concerned about details and thoroughness. It laid the foundation of his success and he preached it in his workplace, to his family, and practiced it through his many long, work days. From, as a teenager, installing water heaters out of the trunk of his '56 Mercury during his plumbing counter lunch hour, Mr. Donatucci grew his business to one of the predominant nationally recognized Kitchen and Bath remodeling firms in the country. He brought his enthusiasm and charm to every neighborhood in the Metropolitan Philadelphia area. Responding to and appreciating his clients' trust and respect, customers became friends. Mr. Donatucci took particular pride in supplying clients, their children and then their children's children their cabinetry as silent recognition for his decades of work.

Using those same principles, Mr. Donatucci and his partners purchased WAYV-FM in Atlantic City and over the course of the disco years brought them from worst to first. Additionally, his hustle and perseverance allowed him to establish a highly respected name in the real estate development and management businesses.

Beyond all of his hard work and dedication, Mr. Donatucci was, first and foremost, a man with a tremendous devotion for the time spent with his family and friends, a love for weekends at the Jersey shore, and a passion for speed boats, fishing, cars old & new, and from his time as a young boy, Lionel Trains.

Mr. Donatucci is survived by his love and wife of 50 years, Jeannette, sons Thomas III and Robert, daughter Michelle, and (7) grandchildren Gabrielle, Genevieve, Madeline, Olivia, Matthew, Jaime and Ryan, brother Ronald and sisters Rita and Maria Louisa. Mr. Donatucci was preceded in death by his brother Robert.
